Other than messy and sketchy line, I troubled more with… the colour. This is a fan-art from my friend’s comic project titled ‘Ksatria Jubah Biru’. I happen to know the big concept. The kingdom in central story kinda like limited monarchy and dominate the Indigo Clan’s area. They adapt the Indigo’s clan colour in the old story of the ‘indigo cape knight’. The best knight/prince/princess’ consort will bestowed this title. On the other hand, the absolute ‘main’ monarchy called ‘Blau’, so their attire is… blue, maybe. But some official illustration coloured the limited monarchy’s attire as purple. Why purple? They should use blue like the absolute monarchy name isn’t? Or did they adapt the clan’s colour instead? So what’s indigo? Is indigo purple? Indigo clan’s colour should be indigo, right? But it’s Ksatria Jubah biru aka Blue Cape Knight so what why how what is indigo?? This is troubled me a lot, and search on internet was useless because indigo colour is… range between dark blue to purple…

In the end I use the original indigo colour in real life, indigo-dye which more like prussian blue and the blue colour I used for the monarch is empirium blue which more like dark cobalt blue. Both blue looks okay together. I wonder if you can distinguish it.

Indigo in this story came from indigofera plants, which usually used to get blue-ish color in batik-making. The quality of it colors depend by it’s process, from greenish blue into dark blue-almost black. No wonder she confused.
